Supernova 5K - Event support

Event: “Take a beautiful and iconic venue, wait until dusk, get the family together, dig out the fluorescent clothing and grab anything that glows or flashes… then set off on a Supernova 5k!”

The Supernova 5k is a night-time 5k around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, taking in the many sights around the park. Participants are encouraged to dress up and wear bright clothing, and are provided with a head torch when they arrive. It’s a fun-run for all the family – there are no time limits and participants are encouraged to take their time and enjoy the event.

Date: Saturday 3rd March
Session: 5pm-9pm

Roles will include:
Volunteers will be asked to do a variety of different duties to help with the overall running of the event. Firstly, they will help with the setting up of the Start/Finish Area by sorting goodybags and medals, then they will become Start Marshals who look after the Start Pens which will start to fill up with participants. Once the event starts, they will move back into the Finish Area, and be ready to congratulate participants and give them their medal and goody bag. It’ll be a quick evening, with lots of jobs needing done, and it can be very rewarding seeing people of different backgrounds and experience complete a 5k – many for the first time! We will provide headtorches and event-crew t-shirts for all to take away and keep. Some volunteers will also be asked to man the Baggage Drop Off area, which involves taking bags, sorting them out, then returning them to participants after the event. It’s very high paced, and will be over very fast!

Meeting point: The Event takes place around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with the Start/Finish Line near the Last Drop café and the ArcelorMittal Orbit. This is where all volunteers are asked to meet.

Point of contact on the day: Marc Stalker – Finish Director – 07598257526.

Uniform: Park Champion uniform. You will also be given a Hi-Vis jacket as it will be dark.

Only a small event with about 120 runners taking part, enjoyed the day as everyone including the participants & the organisers were very friendly and grateful for our help in directing the runners.

Well organised event with great team leaders. Just a shame that where we had to way-find was very quiet & only a few people that were going to the event walked past us.
